Today the group OHB Technology AG (ISIN: DE0005936124, Prime Standard) has acquired 50% of the interest in RST Raumfahrt Systemtechnik GmbH, Salem, from the company’s founder and owner, Prof. Dr. Hans Martin Braun.

RST has been a radar partner of OHB-System AG in the joint project SAR-Lupe (satellite-based reconnaissance system) of many years, assuming project responsibility for the radar conceptual design and SAR processing (image processing on ground level) in particular. RST specializes in imaging radar technology and has core competencies in the field of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), radar altimeters for use in aircraft, as well as broadband radar applications for use on ground (GPR).

RST opens a sustainable path of access to radar technologies for OHB Technology, especially within the framework of the concepts for spaceborne reconnaissance on the basis of SAR-Lupe. Currently, within the project SARah, OHB and RST are developing the future technologies through studies for the second generation of SAR-Lupe, scheduled for deployment in 2017.

The company, founded in 1992, achieved sales of roughly EUR 1.2 million in the year 2007 and generated a net income of TEUR 80 with ten employees. It has been agreed to maintain silence about the purchase price.
