Odyssey Moon Limited, the first official contender for the $30M Google Lunar X PRIZE, is pleased to announce that Senior LEGO Director Lewis Pinault has joined the company’s Board of Advisors.
Lewis Pinault is General Manager of LEGO Play for Business, which specializes in hands-on, playful applications for team learning, creative innovation, and effective collective decision-making. Mr. Pinault is a prominent international business strategist and author, with a strong background in planetary science and policy. He serves on the European Space Agency's Visionary Industry Group Committee. At LEGO, Lewis works closely with industry and national space agencies to open the frontiers of exploration and discovery in the belief that anyone can learn by building and playing. Currently, he is leading the integration of LEGO Serious Play into the online Serious Games environment and championing and exploring LEGO’s role in bringing collectively designed and driven robotic experiments to the Moon and beyond. “I am thrilled to join the Odyssey Moon team to help build a sustainable business model for commercial space enterprise,” said Lewis Pinault from his LEGO Headquarters office in Billund, Denmark. “I believe lunar exploration holds enormous potential for new strategic business partnerships and mass market possibilities that will redefine how people view the Moon. Previously, Lewis worked as a consultant specializing in change management and transformation, beginning with The Boston Consulting Group, and ultimately becoming a Partner with Coopers & Lybrand. Nurturing a lifetime fascination for the common resources of the oceans and outer space, and the collective behaviors that determine how they are shared and used, Lewis holds degrees in Political Science, Ocean Engineering, and Japanese Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MSc in Sea-Use Law from the London School of Economics, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Hawaii, where he was a NASA Space Grant Fellow specializing in Mediation, Negotiation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He is the author of Consulting Demons, a bestselling exposé of the professional services industry (and a Fortune Best Business Book 2000) and The Play Zone (HarperCollins 2004), a survey of LEGO Serious Play and other creative tools for collaborative innovation and complexity management.

Odyssey Moon has already signed on two commercial organizations for its inaugural mission and the company has received proposals for payloads from customers worldwide.
